Covering cables on the roof

I just had a wireless booster installed and have 15 feet of coaxial cable running from the roof antenna mounted on the rear ladder to an entry point midway down the roof. The cable has been secured using cable clamps screwed into the roof at approximately 3 foot intervals with a glob of sealant around each hole. I'm considering covering the cable with eternabond tape to protect it from the elements and would like feedback on whether this is a good idea or if it will just cause me problems down the line.
