Yeah, a 90 degree V10 is bad enough, requiring a balance shaft to make it usable. Even then it gets rough and loud at higher RPMs. Odd number of cylinders have been used in “V” engines (like V5), but there is a reason most are not around. Overall, inline-6 and V8 are hard to beat — except maybe by a 60-degree V12.
