IMO, nothing out there beats the SS. I've hauled 2 different Focuses on mine and am currently hauling a 2014 Escape. You do have to read the instructions!
One of the earlier posts mentioned tying the steering wheel down - just use the seatbelt. Run the seat forward, pull the belt all the way out, wrap it around the bottom of the wheel (or post) several times and run the seat back. I've never had it move, even during a catastrophic blowout.
