My Chevy Sonic lights the oil change light at 7500 miles. I doing the same routine with it; 60K+ miles so far and driving just like new.
All GM products use an algorithm to define oil change interval. It's based on a lot if variables that depend on how you drive. I ran about 70 miles per day and would usually ping at about 5000 miles. Friends who lived closer would ping at 3000 miles with the same vehicle. The only exception I know of was Volt which had a 2 year time clock superimposed on the algorithm.
