I can't really add more to the Sprinter vs Axis decision than aa9zz did but I can comment on this remark:

At this point in time Ford's V10 is about the most reliable engine they make. There is a reason they put it into
everything! (Its in the E-series chassis, the F-53, you can also get it in the F-450 and F-550 and F-650).
It runs dump truck's. There really isn't any question about the V-10's performance especially when you consider how small the Axis/Vegas units are. It really is zippy for an RV (even when pulling a 4000lb toad).
