When you turn the cruise on does the icon on dash light up?
If the cruise light on dash comes on and it still doesn't work and you haven't had any work done on it I would check the brake light switch.
Only 3 things would keep it from working if it comes on would be brake light switch or neutral safety switch or speedometer sensor
