My strainer was installed exactly like yours - upside down and reversed. As a result my pump did not operate smoothly and the pressure fluctuated. I got out my PEX tools and installed it correctly and my pump works great now. And, water doesn’t drip everywhere when I go to clean the strainer or winterize.
