I had a similar issue. The tech at Wakarusa adjusted some type of vent under the sink in the half bath and the odor went away. Seemed to be stronger just after dumping tanks. Someone here probably knows more about what that vent is and how it works.

Probably a vacuum breaker. Keeps the water in the trap from being sucked out.
