Another consideration is the shock load you throw on the hitch assembly if you have to hard brake with no trailer assisted braking. Most of us have to use some type of "drop down or up" hitch adapter. The full weight of the tow against this angled assembly can cause stress issues. If you were involved in a really bad accident where someone got hurt...the "TV Lawyers" hired against you will go over your coach with a fine-toothed comb, including braking systems, proper maintenance performed, tire conditions, proper tire pressures, hitch setup, etc. Address every issue as if you were driving a commercial gasoline tanker through a school zone.
