I think every RVer has experienced this issue. The following is a solution that we have found success with: prior to traveling, and once the tanks have been emptied and rinsed, we pour 1/2 cup of dishwasher detergent in the grey and black tank along with approximately 1/3 of a tank of water in each. We have been using Palmolive eco dishwasher gel (it is inexpensive). Dishwasher detergent does not suds up like dishwashing liquid does. Once at our next location it requires only a quick emptying and rinsing of the tanks. Works every time.
We came across this method on a YouTube site by "RV Geeks".
