in the industry there are two 'height' style commodes, one is the typical stand-alone just like at your home, and the other is a 'short' model due to the need for some manufacturers to provide a raised platform where the plumbing p-trap is housed. None are designed to be any 'shorter' than any other commode you would buy for your home, though it's true that some commodes are not 'high enough' for some folks, and are 'too high' for others - the rest of us find them just right ; )
