No argument that the hardwire might be better, but having one to plug in is better than none. I use a locking bike cable for the illusion that it is secure from theft.

I like that "illusion of protection from theft". If someone really wants something guess they will find a way to steal it, don't they? Most everything we do to prevent theft is like that.
