I would suspect a minimal TPMS was added after the legislation requiring TPMS on all passenger vehicles after the whole Explorer/Firestone rollover fiasco. (My Focus Electric, C-Max, Bolt, and our Escapes all have or had TPMS standard.)
Usually trucks and heavy duty vehicles are excluded from such measures but since ABS has moved on to just about every vehicle TPMS likely will as well.
