If no one has a way to move the TV up, you might want to consider an IR repeater like this one:

I have one of these at the house and it works great. You simply put the receiver where you have line of sight to it and tape the transmitter over the receiver for the TV. My stereo is in a corner away from the TV and I put the receiver on the TV. I just point the remote at the TV and the repeater gets the signal to the stereo.


Not a perfect solution, but it's only $40 and you wouldn't have to get the TV moved.
