Personally, I would never rely on a GPS on a vehicle. I know of at least one person who followed a vehicle routing system that peeled back the roof of their fifth wheel on a low overpass. The system in our 2014 Expedition is a very accurate routing aid, but not with regards to RV's and low clearances.

I make sure we have our Trucker's atlas with the heights of overpasses and bridges. The only drawback to those is that there are occasional changes and one needs to buy a new atlas. But, that's still cheaper than repairing a roof.
