Yes, if modern slides added that much weight, it would then be possible to eliminate the typical slide in compact motorhomes and drop chassis rating to SRW Econoline E-350 range, which is similar to new Transit chassis in weight rating.

Ford still makes the lighter-duty SRW in cutaway for small Class Cs, but no longer appears to offer the SRW as a stripped chassis. I imagine that if a large company like Thor wanted it, Ford would build it for them.
