Your 9.5 MPG is so much higher than the OP's 32N's 7.5 MPG, that it made me curious as to what significant differences there may be.

I found that the slightly longer 32N is built on a 20,500 pound chassis, whereas your 31S is on an 18,000 pound chassis (according to Thor). But a foot longer and a little heavier would never account for that much difference, not when both motorhome have similar shape and size affecting aerodynamics.

However, checking Ford specs, there is a huge difference in "standard" final gearing between the 18,000 and 20,500 pound chassis. I'd bet that makes a significant difference. Obviously other factors like speed, terrain, driving style, etc. affect MPG also.
