We were at Topsail campground over Thanksgiving. Several RV friends have raved about this campground for years.
Unlike nearly all state park campgrounds, this one has a pool, paved streets, concrete pads and, get this, cable TV! Most of the sites have trees between. It's very flat, great for bicycles. The beach is about a mile down a paved road, hourly shuttles can take you, the last one back at 4. You could be a mile and a half to the beach from your campsite.
Reports of biting flies at the beach, so we took the car south about a mile on 30A to a nearby public beach that was very nice. The sand on those Gulf beaches is soooo soft and cool. The water was cool at first, but didn't keep folks from walking right in. The waves are normally gentle on the Gulf, unlike your Atlantic beaches.
Wmart and Publix are right up the road, and it's not far to Miramar Beach and Destin, with all kinds of shops and restaurants, if you're into that kind of thing.
Enjoy your stay, we did!
