I can't speak to the problems with the fiberglass roof, but from what I've heard, it only has a 1 year warranty while the "rubber" roof has a 10 year one.
As for it being two pieces, for some reason, I'm thinking that changed to a one piece after DRV went to the straight-line roof.
Now, all that said, I would definitely not take my words to mean things haven't changed. You might check with a dealer somewhere or directly contact the factory.
