That difference could simply be more or less structural around the larger battery (since the C-Max is a hatchback to put a larger battery in they simply go "up", to fit the larger battery in the Fusion may take more engineering).

This all reminds me: Have to stop at a CAT scale and see how much my Energi weighs when I get a chance.
