Just don't turn your exhaust "up", I've seen this and it's not advisable. I like to be able to put a plug in the end of the pipe when we are in the desert, keeps the animals out (mice). But others I've seen extend it straight up and then you have to deal with water, if it rains, not that it will get into the gen, but it collects at the bottom of the line.
