No, Lyn, That's the standard mattress on our 2017 Axis 25.2. We simply removed the packaging thick plastic cover since it is "crinkly" and noisy to sleep on. (Picked up a Macy's very thin 100% cotton one side / rubber other side mattress cover to use when using in queen bed mode.) After removing the thick plastic cover the standard mattress folds flat as shown with the slide in. (a $10.00 little folding step stool from CW makes easier to jump up on the "day-bed" and Terry and I have slept in small beds around the world including on old Russian spy vessels etc. so we may go with the slide in mode to sleep rather than the sofa or power-down bed if we're in a place we can't use the slide.)
So essentially we have 2 options for use of the rear bedroom area rather than driving down the road with the slide in and the bed covers etc. all in place and the mattress folded up against the forward wall of the bedroom. We removed the original supplied bed cover and put it in vacuum pack till we sell the unit.
We're thinking we'll only have the queen bed in use 10%-15% of our total time in the unit so it's not too much of a task to make up the bed when we need it. Also think the unit is more functional and may look a little better from the inside when the slide is in giving us 2 ways to use that area. Plenty of room for changing for us. Now we're looking for a thin, non-glass mirror to go on the bedroom wall on the passenger side to augment the changing functionality, thin enough to go on the wall behind the door when open.
Best Regards, James
