2amps at 5V is only 10 watts. Most automotive amp wiring charts show 18 gauge wire is plenty big enough for that (for even 25'): Wire Gauge Amps Ratings for 12 volt Automotive Systems

It is very likely that Thor put the cheapest USB charging jacks in that they could find--which would only provide 500ma.

When I added jacks (our 24.1 is old enough that there are no jacks or radio in the back) I made sure that they all were 2 amps.
Hey JamieGeek - any links to what 2 amp jacks you installed in your RV? Or pics?
