Review Ed Felker's Axis/Vegas manual thread.
His manual does a better job of how to change the battery.
1. You most likely don't have a short.
2. There are parasitic loads on both the house batteries and the cranking battery.
3. It appears from reports on this thread that Thor doesn't deliver these units with very good batteries.
