THOR #6218
2015 Sprinter Citation Issues with no end

We got our Citation in October 2015 and during that year it became very clear that it will be the first and last Thor Motorhome we will have purchased.
Right out of the gate on the first trip out the pipe connections in the bathroom came apart flooding the interior. We got into a rain storm and water came in around the rear slide.
The dealership, an official Thor service place as we are told, was now working for the 5th time in 12 months and there are still things that are not or will not be fixed.
For many of the issues the dealer just blows us of with “This is normal.” Or “This is not covered by warranty.

Most of the issues can be attributed to poor quality control out of the factory. Below a list of all the things that were failing so far:
• 12 V System does not hold charges. (Fixed after 9 weeks in the shop)
• leak around rear slide (semi fixed. After 3x 4+ weeks in the shop)
• rear slide wood trim is coming apart as the cables for the slide tug on it when extending/retracting breaking the wood off (fixed again after it came apart for the 5th time. And it will come apart again)
• water leaks in bathroom (fixed them myself as the Dealership did not get it right.)
• sink drain in galley leaks (replaced the drain and the faucet twice already)
• seals around cap windows are not fitting and roll on to themselves (still not fixed after 4 different attempts with new seals and windows)
• cabin door does not close correctly (fixed again and again but keeps coming back)
• screens in windows are warped (replaced several of the screens)
• furnace and heat pump randomly work or don't and are super noisy compared to other units (still open Dealership says it is “Normal”)
• Skylight was so terribly warped that you could not open or close it ( that is the only thing fixed for good so far)
• Water heater on Electric is so loud (whining noise) that you cannot sleep (dealership says it is “Normal” and NO IT IS NOT NORMAL UNLESS YOU USE THE CHEAPEST AVAILABLE CRAPPY UNIT OUT THERE AND MOUNT IT UNDER THE BED)
• Floor insulation is missing in parts I think as in colder weather parts of the floor are ice cold and others are not (Still open no fix offered)
• Heat distribution is not working when the furnace runs the bedroom is a sauna and the front of the RV is an ice chest (still open no fix offered)
• The inside cover of the cap has been replaced as the dealership damaged it during trying to fix the seals. The new part looks horrible, off in color and does not fit with the rest as it bulges and warps.
• and the list goes on and on and on as every time we take it out for a trip something else breaks or turns up again.
The service department at the dealership (Open Road RV in Monroe, WA) takes between 6 and 12 weeks at a minimum to work on the rig and still is unable to fix most of the issues for good. They usually blame it on Thor.

Another huge annoyance is that if you have an issue with the Chassis like a broken bearing or some other engine trouble you have to go to a Mercedes dealer to get it looked at and the Dealership/Service Department will not handle that.

Since we have not been able to use the RV 5 out of the 9 months we have it, because it has been in the shop, I expected at least some sort of refund of the cost for storage, cancelled trips, financing but there is nothing happening. I am seriously considering returning the RV for a refund or selling it off and get something not manufactured by Thor.

This does not seem to be an isolate case either as it seems we are not alone with these issues. Check your Yelp reviews.

Sincerely angry by now
