Catamount,

Yes, you can power just a couple of outlets. I'm thinking of adding an inverter to my Axis to do just that. I want to power the 'fridge and microwave.

The fridge because my wife takes med's that must be refrigerated and we've found that the Norcold does not maintain temp well while traveling. We can run on propane while on the road, but would prefer not to. The microwave would just be convenient when stopping for lunch. The living room TV could run off the microwave outlet too.

The system I am considering is:
  • Inverter: Xantrex ProWatt 1500
  • Xantrex Remote Panel
  • Xantrex 15 Amp transfer switch

The transfer switch ensures that the inverter doesn't power the outlets if you are on shore power or have the genset running. Wiring is moderately complicated.

Total cost, including wiring and fuses should be about $350.

Regards,

Randy
