The lock breakage seems to be a common thing. Mine broke, but I was outside and had tools available. I drilled the lock out and installed a new one, which is at the brink again. They use plastic/pot cast metal inside, and that stuff gives after a while.
I will try to find a better lock with all steel parts, it might be a little more expensive, but should last (hopefully)
