The purpose of the slide stop/lock is to lock the slide in if the motors should fail and you have to take the coach in for service. Under normal use the slide motors serve as the lock when they are functioning correctly.

If you feel safer, there is no harm in using them while travelling down the road. If you do just remember to remove them before retracting the slide.
