I don't know the difference between residential film and automotive. Which did you have installed on your RV?
We had automotive UV blocking on the VEGAS. We just had the driver's and passengers side windows done (lower) and the windshield. They were able to do the windshield (they accidentally put a small scratch in the lower passenger side, but I didn't complain)

They said it was the largest windshield they had done.

They didn't put the tint on the very top of the windshield where the black sun blocking bumps are. They were having an issue getting good seal with the raised texture and gave me the choice of trying it or not. I went with their suggestion.

The tint definitely cuts the glare and makes driving much easier(at least for me)
