The solution at last to the problem. Page 29 of the manual that aa9zz found for us.
The unit will automatically select camera mode when the reverse gear is selected.
To enable camera mode at any other time, press and hold MODE on the
faceplate for more than two seconds.
Press and hold MODE for more than two seconds to go back to the previous
mode.
It works, I tried it.
