The Sewer Solution uses a high pressure jet to macerate solids and tissue. Seems to do pretty well, I have never had it plug. The back flush function does put water back into the tank, but unless it has a straight shot, it doesn't really break up anything left in the tank. I installed a Tornado tank rinser and that works really well to break up and get stubborn stuff out of the tank. There is a really great video a guy put together to contrast and compare tank flushers on YouTube. https://youtu.be/dfTd0Slt_cU
