This is what a transfer switch looks like. Mine had an issue when I took this picture; but anyway it's about an 8 inch square junction box with a double pole double throw relay inside. The relay coil is powered by the genny circuit, so when the genny starts putting out power, the coil will cause the relay to flip to the generator supplied power. The generator supplied power will take priority and the RV will switch over to it. When the generator power stops, the relay will revert to the home position and connect the RV back to the shore power coming in, if there is any.
