I have to apologize, I was told by Thor and a tech there was no way to access the bottom of the shower. Obviously they were wrong and I was wrong for listening to them and not checking for myself. Thank you pengoquin for correcting Thor and me! We are in the process of getting ready to move cross country, guess my investigation of the shower will have to wait until we are resettled.
