When we were in Calif 2 summers ago, posted speed limit was 55 mph for our RV. Gas mileage went up to a little over 7 mpg. However in a hilly state (not mountainous), I drive at about 67 MPH. It is the speed where my cruise and engine work best together. Relative to safety though, space is always my major consideration.
