have owned new Compass 23 TR since Feb 2016. Since then we have had 2 awning failures (Carefree-misnomer). First one occurred in July 2016; 2000 miles from home when the awning would not retract. It was replaced under warranty. Second on occurred in August of this year, again 1800 miles from home. Heard a horrible grinding sound as I retracted the awning the night before we departed the campsite. Next morning I did my usual walk-around before leaving the site to drive our Toad to the camp entrance. Wife drove out of site onto road and awning came out on its own, hit a tree limb and destroyed the awning. We had to have it completely removing because it wasn't safe with it on. Found out when we got back home that it was 5 days out of Carefree warranty; and we had only used it a few times.

Anyone else with a similar issue?
