Depends on what you like to do. Many good casinos from Lake Charles to Lafayette. Good Cajun food along the way. Swamp tours galore (although too cold now for gators). In New Orleans I would most highly recommend the WW II museum. One of the very best in the country. I have been there about half dozen times and still have not seen it all. Very good stories and exhibits.
I-10 from Beaumont to LA border is rough. Also bad in Sulfur LA. Take it slow....
