2016 Thor oil change

I have a 2016 Thor Siesta Sprinter 24st. In the next few day I plan on doing an oil change. My question is what brand of oil do you think is the best to use?

The 2016 E-450 manual recommends a synthetic blend.

Only if it's a diesel. If it's a Ford V10, NO!

Sprinter Mercedes Benz? Your owners' manual will tell you the grade of oil to use for your particular diesel.... Brand? Personal choice because when you are buying synthetic, you are ahead of the performance and protection issue. I buy the 5 quart jugs at WalMart where the Mobil One is the cheapest and then buy the individual quart case at Costco to make up the difference. Definitely, don't scrimp on your oil filter.

It's a CJ-4 oil for diesels, so it should be good for your Sprinter. Does your manual call for a full synthetic and 5w40? Even if it does not call for a full synthetic you could still use it, if you want to.

If under warranty, MB requires MB spec 229.51. At this point in the US there are probably only 2 you can find. Mobil 1 ESP (European formula) is easiest to find.

Note:
Mobil 1 ESP Formula M 5W-40 is being replaced by Mobil 1™ ESP X1 0W-30

Mercedes requires that only oil meeting their specs be used in the Sprinter diesel engine. That latest specification is 229.52 My manual also approves 229.51

Low ASH oils are required or they can damage your DPF (Diesel particular Filter) Damage from using the wrong oil is not covered by warranty $$$$.

Approved oils are available at the MB dealers and NAPA. NAPA often has the correct oil on sale although my NAPA has to order the oil.

Here is a list of approved fluids: http://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolistenmain.php?
