leveling block question

I've had a trailer for years and used wood blocks to level the trailer. Now I have a Chataeu 22e class c and with the dual rear wheels. do I need to put blocks under both tires on the side I am leveling?

Assuming you are referring to blocks on both of the wheels on either side of the dual rear wheels...

I always put blocks on both rear wheels, but others have just put them on the inside wheel. My coach is also heavier than yours probably is, so I like the additional support of blocking both wheels.

While I am probably a bit more anal when it comes to these things and block both wheels, if you only block one wheel, it should be the inside wheel.

Put blocks under both duals. If you only block one wheel you'll probably exceed the weight rating of the tire.

If you only block one wheel you'll also probably exceed the weight rating of the block (if you are using a "commercial" block set like Lynx levelers).

I've been lucky so far: All the places I've parked at have been nose down.

Agree both rear tires should be supported.
Found these 4x2 blocks by Camco, each block is wide enough for the rear duals. The "T" handle pops up to carry the pack. More stable than individual blocks. Still use singles for front tires. (2x2)

If you buy extra blocks, be sure they match with what you have. We found out the hard way that they don't all fit together. We were in a very hilly area in Tennessee when we discovered it.

I carried 4 2X6 about 3' long (they fit perfectly in the compartment with the shore power cable) for my 22e and never needed anything else. I blocked the out side dually and never had an issue. We're talking here about blocking it up, not driving down the road but if you feel like crawling under to get that inside dually blocked or both I guess thats your choice.

I'm not an engineer and am too lazy to look up the specs, but I'm sure your concerns are certainly valid. I would think that everything from the inner wheel out would be under twice as much stress when the inner wheel is off the ground. Thanks for eveyone that responded. I did not originate the post, but dug it up again to ease my mind. So you all have relieved me and our motorhome from unnecessary stress.

Did you use them very much? I have had plastic blocks 2 years and have never used and we been out probably 10 months last 2 years.

Ah but the Tacoma Narrows bridge had design issues (re: Wind). Its always on those Engineering Disasters shows.

Not saying our campers don't (really! LOL).

So far I haven't had to lift the rear tires--almost all the spots we've parked in have been nose low. I think if it was rear low I may turn the camper around--easier to put the blocks under the fronts.

I carry them for the day the Engineering Disaster is at the RV spot, you never know. I also do not have slides and the frig keeps working even at a slight slant.

I carry them so I don't have to explained why I bought them but don't take them.

Actually we used them a lot with the travel trailers. I just haven't found place place where we needed them in the motorhome yet. We've only had it 6 weeks. I have noticed something that I can't figure out a reason for. The motorhome feels more comfortable with the same left right tilt than the trailer did. I think it may be an illusion caused by the ceilings being higher.

I have 2 x 8 blocks of 3 different lengths with the ends cut at 45 degrees. They fit easily in an outside storage compartment.

I'm not using any in the CG we are now in. In the previous CG I had 2 stacked under the LR tires, 3 under the LF tire and 1 under the RF tire. You never know what you will need.

Have Four Winds 22e. Not heavy enough to worry about blocking only outer rear dual.

Use the blocks to level in SIL's driveway at Lake Greenwood. Apron has Steep sideway slope, use 3+2+1 stacks. Support both rear tires and front tire on drivers side.

Meets the criteria "If it's not comfortable to walk in, the fridge will not be happy".

In order to "save" blocks (Links or similar), just ramp the outside wheel & stack blocks to needed level for the inside dual wheel.
