2018 Chateau 31W Enclosed Sewer Plumbing

Hi Everyone,

We just picked up our Thor Chateau 31W a week ago from CW. I didn't want to leave with it because of an issue with the enclosed sewer plumbing but was provided a "We Owe" list and a promise it would be taken care of when I return it in August for all the "We Owe" stuff.

The issue with the enclosed sewer plumbing is the dump pipe connector and the hole in the bottom of the enclosed area don't line up. The dump pipe connector rotates downwards so a sewer hose can connect but as you can see from the picture the misalignment prevents that. Has anyone who owns a Chateau 31W experienced this issue? If so, how did you resolve it or if your dealer corrected it how did they do it and was it a good correction?

I have posted a picture of what it looks like with this post. Thanks in advance for any help and/or suggestions.

My Four Winds 31W had the same issue. Easily solved with a larger pass through in the floor. As a temporary fix I removed the original pass through and dremeled the opening enough to fit a coupler since we wanted to use the rig before the dealer could fix.

Thank you Pete. I am going to give that a try when/if all our nasty weather stops.

YES! THANK YOU! i was just about to post the same thing about our four winds 31E.

are you sure the part after the gray/black valves rotates downward? i tried to move mine but it looks like it's glued in place straight out (the compartment door has to be open for any hose connected, even the garden hose for the black sprinkler)

Mine rotates with a firm grip. But it is quite stiff.

Mine is also very stiff, once I got it rotated I just leave it in the down position

Just loosen the bolts that the clamp the knife valves to the pipe adapters until it moves relatively easily. Put some water in each tank with the valves closed and check for leaks. If it leaks, tighten slightly. If you get ambitious, you can remove the bolts and nuts, slide the pipe adapters back and grease the "O" rings with silicone grease (no oil based grease) and re-clamp.

What if you tried hooking one of those two foot-long sewer hose extensions to it? Would that give you some flexibility, and allow things to line up easier?

Not in my case. I could connect but then the hose couldn't snake down the hole. And if I came out the open bay doir5, that was uphill and we all know ÷€×/ doesn't flow uphill

That connection is installed incorrectly. Should be centered on hole. Mine was close to the edge. I replumbed it when I uninstalled the macerator.

The but the easy fix is a larger off center pass through. Much easier than replumbing or replacing the bin.

My unit goes into the shop Monday to correct the issue. We will see how it gets resolved. I will let everyone know and post a picture of how they corrected it.

True but I was redoing it anyway. I got a small sheet of the same material on Amazon and patched the holes with it. Looks good.

Are you going to mount it permanently? My issue is the bin door opening down. Open door, remove covers, rotate down, close door, awkward reach underneath to attach hose, open door to access valves.....PIA! !!

Baddad that does look good. A nice job. I hope the dealer does as nice a job.

I never close bottom cover and the sewer connector is always down. If something comes up from the road,. It's going to hurt alot of damage to other things prior to hurting the sewer. Been this way for over a year. No problem.

The clear connection I reach under and connect it. It's not permanent.

We have a Quantum WS31 that had the same problem. The dealer replaced the entire enclosure with a new one.

Definitely looks like it was installed incorrectly. Id make the dealer fix it under the warranty. Did see some nice repair jobs and ideas in other posts. Good luck

Sorry for your misfortune but this is the kinda stuff that makes me absolutely crazy. I would be nice to go back to the Thor factory and get the plant manager and ask him if this is the kind of work his employees turn out on a regular basis.. Everyone involved in the process of quality control should be fired.
