Kool, and you don't have to just go by Google; here is a Alamo site recognizing what legends of volunteer contributions brought to the Alamo by David Crockett.

If you have ever go to the Alamo, you will notice 1st how small it is but preservation and the films they show are actually pretty good. San Antonio is truly a great hidden gem in Texas.

dkoldman,

I have been to San Antonio twice. The first time was not very pleasant and the only part of the city I saw was Lackland AFB. Basic training 1966. They never let us off base. It was cold and I remember marching from the barracks to the rifle range to qualify and freezing my ass off. All the M16's were in Viet Nam and we had to qualify with the old WWII 30 cal carbine that ejected the casing up and over your head. You had to turn your hat around or sometimes the hot casings would go down your collar and burn your neck.

In 2018 we were on the road for 6 months and traveled across Texas on I-10 spending time along the way. We visited the Alamo and did the Riverwalk. When you cross over the Sabine River from Louisiana and see that mile marker 880 that is when it hits you how big Texas is.
