Battery Disconnect Switch

I'm going to attempt installing a quick disconnect to the batteries, using the type with a little round knob to open or close the circuit. My questions are:

1) Do I need to put one on both of the two house batteries?
2) In all the videos I have watched, once they disconnect the negative terminal, they do not need to disconnect the positive terminal. Correct?

I'm a complete newbie and have never worked with or around an acid battery except to top off with distilled water, but I have my safety glasses and gloves, know to not touch tools, etc that can spark (or worse) and feel confident I can complete this. Thanks in advance for all the great help on this forum. You are all great!

Yes once you disconnect one terminal you're good.

As far as both batteries: As long as you disconnect both batteries from the coach with the one switch you should be good.

I tried using those knob disconnects on our Axis; didn't work so well. It was far easier putting in either a knife disconnect or a marine type switch (Amazon).

I've used the round knob type on our rv...one for the chassis battery and one for the house. Installed for several years now and they work well. I bought the ones made in the USA...I forget the name of the company now.... in SC I think it was...
I'd prefer a "marine type", they just seem better quality...but these have been good enough for me.

And I'll second the yes, just one terminal....depending on how the batteries are hooked up. You just need to break the circuit

Just left the Axis was installing knife switch on neg battery post. With no grounds connected still had lights and Use/Store switch clicked and worked. See photos. I'll try positive side instead tomorrow?

Ours also does that until you disconnect the chassis battery as well.

The posts are different sizes and the knife disconnect, at least the one I purchased, wouldn't fit on the positive post.

Could I ? or why wouldn't I be able to hook up a chassis disconnect switch? Inside at the Intellitec Disconnect Relay (Use - Store Switch relay solenoid). Instead of connecting under the hood on the chassis battery. The Chassis battery powers this in my AXIS so the cable is there?

The reason you don't want to do that is there may possibly be other connections to the battery that don't go through that relay. Putting the disconnect at the battery, however a pain that it is, ensures that you're completely disconnecting everything from the battery.

You could always use the marine type switch somewhere and just wire it to the battery--that way the hassle is only done once as you run that wire.

My rotary DC, from the negative, is located
behind the grill. It's easy access (after the install ) since the Axis battery box is so crowded.
