Preliminary Ford GCWR in RV towing guide list the V8 a little lower, but we don't yet have the complete picture. GCWR depends on more than just engine torque. Final gearing also plays a major role, which is why E-Series with 4.56 gears are rated significantly higher than those with 4.10 gears. Unfortunately lower gears often hurts fuel economy so we can't have it all (by lower gearing I mean numerically higher).
Cooling shouldn't be a limitation as long as Ford keeps using the same size radiator, heat exchangers, etc. as with V10. Since V8 engine is more efficient it should reject less heat to coolant. The only place where cooling could limit power relative to V10 is on the outside of engine if for some reason air doesn't circulate as good around the engine to keep exterior cool. But I seriously doubt that will be the case.
We should see more information soon. Of course, there is no guarantee Thor or other manufacturers will use the optional V8 engine. If it cost an extra dollar we probably won't see it in an Axis or Vegas anyway.
