Our 2022 Tellaro with the 200Ah reliable system is parked in our attached RV garage. I've read that the lithium batteries in these units aren't the kind that explode so easy. That they are a slightly different chemistry than the one's in RC cars and laptops.
I assume they wouldn't put these out there unless they were safe, but we've all heard that before.
Is it true that they are safer?
Thank you!

As has been said by Ted, lithium iron phosphate batteries (LiFePo) are much safer than lithium-ion batteries. They are also compatible with a RV's 12 volt electrical system producing 3.2 volts per cell where the lithium-ion batteries produce 3.7 volts per cell.. The reason the lithium-ion batteries are uses in autos, cell phones and laptop computers is the energy density is greater in the lithium-ion batteries (that is, more power per weight and size). Also LiFePo batteries are not as nearly susceptible to thermal runaway and because of this have a much simpler battery management system.
