2019 Freedom Elite Hot Water

I have a 2019 Thor Freedom Elite and my water heater works great when we are connected to city water.
When we are dry camping (using the water pump), I do not have hot water?
Are there separate valves that need to be opened when using the fresh water tank and water pump?
Thanks

Just wondering, is the water heater on propane and working. There are no valves to switch from city to on board water via the pump.

Do you have a tank or tankless water heater? If tankless, then maybe it's a flow problem not triggering the water heater.

Hot water heater

The water heater is propane and it is working. It has a tank and works on demand. When I am hooked to city water it senses flow and kicks on when needed. When using water pump, it appears the water isnt going through the hot water tank. The propane never kicks on to heat the water?

One or the other, not both.

A water heater with a tank heats the water to a given temperature and only fires the propane (or electric heater or both) when the temperature in the tank reaches a lower threshold. This can be due to ambient heat losses or the intrusion of cold water as the hot water exits the tank to the faucets and/or shower.

An "On Demand" or tankless water heater only fires the propane when there is enough water flow sensed through the heating coils in the tank; heating the water as it flows through the heat exchanger.

So which one do you have again?

There have been cases (one thread not too long ago) where the hot and cold water "reversed" when the RV was on pump as compared to city water. The only resolution to this that I have seen centered on incorrect positions of the water heater's winterizing isolation and bypass valves. That is probably where you need to start.

Another possibility is that you have a semi-pinched line where city water pressure is enough to expand it and allow hot water flow put the pump pressure is not enough to do this.

I think I had the same issue on my 26HE when I first bought it. The valves were not set right underneath the sink. I had water. It just wasn't hot.

BTW... I highly recommend the Camco Hot Water Hybrid Heater kit. We don't even use propane for water anymore. Gets just as hot with the electric heating element.

When I took delivery of my 2019 30FE the valves were half turned so flow was low and half of the water bypassed the heater. maybe your valves are not open all the way and the pump doesn't provide enough pressure to the heater when the valves are set that way.

Make sure your outside shower valves are turned off not just the shower head.

I would say you hav a pinched line. Mine is under dinette seat and u can trace fron=m there. I found dinette table arm was pinching hot line. I just adjusted the water line a little and all good.

Have you also checked the strainer for the water pump. The strainer could be preventing the flow from the tank, It could be filled with manufacturing debris.
