Does anyone use roku in their rv?

I use roku's and chromecast at home, work well. They need a good WiFi signal of at least 5MBS which is pretty rare at most RV parks.

RVPark WiFi is unreliable for anything, and especially video or music streaming. It's ok for checking you r favorite splash page, sports scores or news. I don't like using it for email, as it's unsecure.

I use Apple TV, and an old Sony Media Device, (for Amazon streaming). They are both kinda like the Roku.

With T-Mobile's new BingeOn feature I can stream any of the following channels, for as much as I can stand, without impacting my data cap or incurring data charges.

My smartphone is the WiFi hotspot for video/music streaming.

I have been using the Binge On unlimited video streaming feature and their Music Freedom unlimited music streaming since they were both introduced.

Being that surfing the web and checking email uses so little data compared to streaming, I have not approached my data limit yet. And I'm on a very old legacy cheapo 4GB/month plan!

And even if it does get throttled back to 2G speed, for email and web surfing it's not an issue, (however I do agree that it's a violation of Net Neutrality).

Data throttling by all wireless carriers is a horrible thing, and illegal, but they all do it for profit!

Some campgrounds will throttle you back or cut you off for streaming video.

I use it all the time at my sons house with good wifi signal. Will not work at a lot of campgrounds due to bandwith and amount of people hooked up

My wife just changed her phone plan to Metro PCS. Her plan includes a hotspot thru her phone. The plan includes 9GB for the hotspot. I put a Chromecast on our interior TV and set Netflix to its lowest video level.
If you have a good phone signal, it works well. I can get 25-30 hours streaming from Netflix per month. Beware that using full video quality from Netflix or Amazon you will get 4-6 hours per month. Using the hotspot for internet browsing is handy if we are both using our tablets. If you are using your phone directly, data usage is unlimited.

we have an amazon fire stick in ours. Use it sparingly over our cellphone as a hotspot. Works great and really like it.

99.9% of rv parks it would not be useable due to poor wifi signal & most do not allow streaming video even if they have the signal strength. It's odd that most negative park reviews are because of poor "free" wifi, If you absolutely have to have powerful wifi bring your own. We have 15g from Verizon, but that probably wouldn't get us thru a couple movies.

Look above, at my post about T-mobile's "Binge On" offering.

I have been using it now since it was introduced and it works great. You can watch as MUCH as you want, and it will NOT affect your actual data allotment.

The picture quality may not be perfect HD quality, but it's at least as good as 720P DVD, always, even if it is throttled down.
