Bug deflector E450 - worth it?

Searched forum for bug deflector = no results. I have yet to see a MH have a bug deflector. Is it just gonna deflect them bugs more under your front cap vs hitting the windshield which is easier to clean? Thoughts,,,

It might just do that! And, scrubbing the underside isn't easy. hmmm...

The way I look at a bug deflector is ....It might help some for the bug.... but at least the front of my hood wont be all pitted and chipped from rocks.


I have one on my old jeep...it dont help my windshield much but the front of my hood is like new.

Then when you sell your RV you can remove the bug detector and the front of the hood will look like new. Might help sell your RV quicker over another one.

I say go for it.

They make removable tape protective material you can put along the edge of the hood to protect it from rock chips and bug guts. You kinda answered your own question when you said...deflect them somewhere else. These things are too big to deflect them over or around.

Just remember to treat that bug deflector as if it is a fender or hood bra. After you've been out running the roads in the rain remember to remove, clean, dry then clean and dry front of RV before replacing.

If you don't you get may all kinds of things growing under it. I learned the hard way with my Goldwing trike. Had to chip off some "growth" before I could sand the fenders down for repainting. $250.00 lesson

I say go for it.

That's why I out one on my Silverado when i first got it. The front edge of the hood is radiused down, and just looked to me like it would get dinged in no time. I'll bet the front edge of my hood is the best looking part of my truck now.

...but I've never had the feeling that the thing does anything at all to keep bugs off the windshield.....maybe something the size of a gnat, but not anything else. (not a scientific study comparing with and without, just years of driving and looking through bugs )

I had the cap of my class C as well as the hood, fenders and the side pillars next to the front doors covered with a clear bar like they put on cars at a local dealer. Walk, bugs wash right off, no stone chips.. I think it was one of my better spends on the camper..
