A couple of interesting things

Did you know that Garmin has an RV specific radio? (not just the portable GPS units, but a whole entertainment unit)

Here it is--very interesting (looks like some OEMs have it installed--seems to be a little finicky until just recently with some software updates). Its a lot more functional than the Jensen or Axxera units Thor uses. As a bonus the display is detachable (its an Android tablet). (Looking at the Specs it even has two CAN interfaces so it could talk to the networks (OBD-II) in the RV!)

Unfortunately it looks like it is somewhat difficult to purchase (and a bit pricey approaching $900 or so)--much like the other radios you have to find an RV dealer/boat dealer willing to order one for you--don't think you can even get it off the Garmin website.

--------

The other interesting thing is far cheaper, and probably more useful: Has anyone heard of "Borg Stabilizers"? Basically they are just a large grommet that fits in the wheel hole of your dually to hold the valve extension in place (Valve Stem Stabilizers).

That looks promising... but doesn't the RV-770 have a 7" screen?

Garmin's docs say 6.95" screen

Depends on if you'd want to replace the crappy stereo and have a good Nav in it vs putting the 770 on top of the dash. I'm all for less clutter so if it can all go in the "radio hole" I'm happy

I would suppose if our old eyes can't see the 6" screen in the radio hole then it wouldn't help in the least

If you're looking for a larger screen just put an iPad Pro (12.9" screen) on the dash and use Apple or Google maps or Garmin's Street Pilot

There are several aftermarket double DIN radios available that use Garmin as their navigation system. Call Crutchfield and they can point you to good radios with Nav built in, none of them are cheap!!!

Funny thing about my post here is that I'm actually more interested in people's thoughts about the Borg Stabilizer than the radio (since at the moment I may be putting the stabilizer on rather than the radio LOL).

Here is one on Amazon with only 1 review; they do like it, however LOL.

I always worry about updates. Any idea on how that works with this unit? $600 for just a GPS vs $900 for a complete entertainment system is not overpriced unless the entertainment is as bad as Axxera. Does the Garmin interact with phones? My Axxera is terrible with my phone or I need to make serious adjustments.

Its a Garmin you use the same application that updates the portable units to update this unit.

The feature page also says that it does handsfree bluetooth calls (and you can listen to music via bluetooth).

Sorry the 770 has 6.95" screen on Garmin's docs, and the in-dash radio is 6".
