Darned cameras are at it again

Went to Kentucky this past week and all the cameras stopped working for a couple of hrs and started up again. After a bit, once again I got the “ no signal”on the screen of my top of the line Axxera radio.
Now they are once again off, where do I look for connections ?
I have GOT to get a separate monitor for the cameras and send that radio back to the manufacturer in pieces.
I passed being frustrated with this setup since I bought it.
Any ideas ?

There is a camera switch box usually located on-top of the bundle of wires going to the dash. Just remove the cover on-top of the dash to access. The canera input is on the back of the Axxera and just slide it out to access. Youtube videos explain on how to remove a DIN radio

Rick Kirby, I am currently on a trip and have been having the same problems you have described. I found the video out (see Bob Denmans photo) plug so loose it would wobble around causing the video problem (yellow cable jack & yellow plug receptacle). It appears either the male jack or female plug are of different sizes. My coach is new so I'll let the dealer fix it. In meantime I used a zip tie to put pressure on the cable to hold it in place while making a connection. Hope this helps!

The switch box is prone to malfunctioning, basically a POS. I installed a quad view monitor from Rear View Safety, one of the best mods I have made. The monitor has the same 4 pin connections as the Thor cameras and the switch box is eliminated. You can view one camera or all three at the same time. I left the turn signal trigger wires disconnected because I use my mirrors but with all 3 cameras displayed at the same time there is no need.

On another thread about the cameras, someone, Blair Collins I believe says he puts a bead of clear Silicone across the connections. This keeps it from pulling apart, then if you should need to unplug, just peeled the silicone off.

The guy that hooked up your cameras, must be the same numbskull responable for my wipers working only on slow speed, and then you had to hunt for a spot that they would even do that
Took to the shop after I got a Ref# from Thor for a Warranty repair. Tech came out after about 20 mins said, Got ya wipers working fine, ahh have you had then worked on before, I said no, he said they plug to the wiper motor was plugged in backwards !
How does that work ? Must be the same guy!

That is pretty smart. My buddy has an ACE and he has had intermittent camera issues while travelling. I'll pass that along to him.

Thanks for re-posting that idea, I missed it the first time around.

I used an adhesive backed disc made for mounting a gps and a Ram suction mount with a 2” arm, I didn’t want to drill holes in the dash. I did notch the the panel that covers the dash to bring the wiring out. After cutting the notch in the dash cover I cut a section out of a rubber grommet and pushed it in place to cover the sharp edges and make the area look a little neater.

We had the same intermittent video problems. crimp the outside of the video RCA plug slightly. There are 4 sections that look like tabs. Again crimp just enough to tighten the plug.

Get that guys name! He's the one that made my wipers work but sometimes they get jammed together and forces me to turn them off, then stop and pull them apart. Now I just clean them and put on rainex to disperse the rain on the windshield. I don't use them unless I have no choice, I just find the nearest pull off.

9” quad view from Rear View Safety. All the cables are included along with a remote control (I never use it) and a mount for the dash. Works Great, nice big view, took less than 30 minuets to hook up and have working. The cables have the same 4 pin cables that the Thor cameras have, no adapters needed.

On my Chateau they had electrical tape holding the RCA plugs together. I also put some lithium grease on them. In addition, I replaced the thin RCA cord they used with a thicker cord.

Huh. One of mine slipped on the arm, got jammed with the other one and forced me to pull over in a quote "one horse town" to pull it off completely, in the rain too. Ok warranty and recall and it got fixed, but I learned that 'Rainex' works good for the windshield. Happened again so I'll just clean the windshield and put on the Rainex when I travel.
