Engine Heat and AC Compressor

We've had the motor home for over a year and used the engine heat for the first time recently. When we stopped I saw water dripping like when the AC is running. Is the system designed to operate the AC compressor with the heat? The vents were set to floor and dash, not defrost.

Some units will turn on the AC when the floor is turned on, almost all will turn on when you turn it to defrost. That is to help keep your AC seals lubricated during the winter months when not used.
And yes water might drip as though you are using your AC in the summer time, its normal.....

Thanks for your response. Your explanation makes sense. I knew that the AC turned on with the defrost on most vehicles, but I didn't realized it also will come on with the floor vents on heat.

Years ago the same thing happened with our Holiday Rambler Endeavor (diesel pusher), but so many things were wrong with the coach, that I figured something was malfunctioning as usual.
