Exterior sink won’t drain

We have a 2017 Windsport 34P with an outside kitchen. The sink never drained. I decided to run a snake down it thinking that maybe some construction debris got stuck in the pipe. That did not work and the snake could only go in 18”. So I took the the draw and the access panel off. I found an inline pump and some taped electrical wires.

Does anyone know if there is supposed to be a switch to turn on the pump to drain the sink? It sure looks that way.

There is a rocker switch under the cabinet that turns on a pump to empty sink.

I suppose that actually reading the manuals didn't help...

Bob Denman you are correct. The switch is well hidden. Thank you once again General RV for not showing this feature during our walkthrough.

The biggest problem may be that we don't know what it is, that they don't show us... until we find the gap in our knowledge!
"PDI" seems to stand for being left: "pretty dang ignorant".

Is the drain pump really loud for you guys? It sounds like a garbage disposal on ours.

I found there were a lot of things never explained during the PDI. For example, the San-T-Flush. I went to the owner's manual to find out and it wasn't mentioned. It was on this forum that someone informed me that in the manual it is called the sewer holding tank flush attachment. A new RVer like me should have figured that out easily enough, huh?[emoji848] That's when I really started to realize the value of these forums. Of course, once I knew what it was, I tried to use it and water began streaming out of the bedroom wall behind the TV. The dealer had to rip a hole in the wall and replace a valve - has worked fine since.[emoji16]

I went through the same thing during a trip last year.
Dam sink wouldnt drain. I was crawling under the mh trying to follow pipes. Just by chance I knelt down by the sink and as I stood up I saw the switch. Boy I felt stupid. Glad I didnt disconnect anything like I was planning on doing.

Ill never forgot about the switch ever again
Jerry

Under the outside sink there is a one way Hepvo drain trap intended to eliminate the need for a conventional p-trap. I had to travel with the grey tank pretty full and found a lot of water in the outside sink at the next stop. I disassembled the Hepvo (which Thor had installed upside down) an discovered that the diaphragm had turned inside out and was allowing backflow. Since then I keep the outside sink drain closed when not in use to prevent possible backflow.

I'm glad you've posted on this. The last few times I've gone out camping, I have opened the door to the outside kitchen only to find grey water in the sink. Do you have pictures of what the valve should look like installed in the correct position?

Borrowed this picture from the Hepvo website. This seems to be a clever product, but I think it was intended this hold back fumes and not liquids. Closing the drain to travel has worked to keep the grey water where it's supposed to be.

Outside sink

wind34p. I also had to get on the forum to locate that switch. When I tried to use it, it threw water all in my face. Yes, it turns out that Thor wired the switch in reverse. That was the only issue of many with our new RQ29 that I had enough sense to repair.

When I purchased my 2014 34f the previous owner had placed NUMEROUS post it notes EVERYWHERE! At fist I found it rather annoying. But then I discovered how little I knew and how helpful some of the notes were. One thing I liked was whenever a part was replaced, the previous owner wrote down the date. Some notes told me how to use the sat system and what buttons to push on the distribution box to get tv in the bedroom. Who ever owned my 34f...Thank You
